Lynnwood Convention Center Gives Back During the Holidays

(LYNNWOOD, WA) During the season of giving, the Lynnwood Convention Center is happy to be doing their part in giving back to the community.

Through a longstanding partnership with the Lynnwood Food Bank, any extra meals that are not consumed are donated to the food bank. In 2012 the Lynnwood Convention Center donated nearly 9,000 pounds of food.

“The food is very much appreciated,” said Judy Finn, Administrator/Director at the Lynnwood Food Bank. After the food is picked up from the convention center, it is repackaged by volunteers into meal sized containers and given out to local families each week.

The Lynnwood Food Bank has been providing to the less fortunate in Lynnwood for over 32 years. According to the food bank website, through the help of their volunteers the food bank has never closed or missed a distribution day.

Finn said during the winter season they serve nearly 250 families a week, a number which Finn said has increased since last winter.

“Without donations it would be very hard to feed everyone,” Finn remarked. Other food donation centers include local stores such as Costco and Trader Joes.

“Our families are so grateful,” Finn commented adding their clients always look forward to seeing the wide array of gourmet food that the convention center’s Executive Chef and his team prepare.
