Lynnwood Convention Center Welcomes Big Brothers Big Sisters Banquet and Auction

(LYNNWOOD, WA) The Lynnwood Convention Center is proud to announce that the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County will be returning to the Lynnwood Convention Center Saturday, September 29th for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Banquet and Auction

In its 25th year, the annual Dream Builders auction will feature live and silent auctions and a gourmet dinner.

As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Special Events Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County, Mark Johnson said that the auction’s main purpose is to generate funds to support the relationships between Bigs and Littles.

“It costs almost $1,000 for every match we make,” Johnson said, who added that they hope to raise enough money to support 100 matches.  “It’s all about supporting the children.”

Currently, they have a long waiting list of young boys needing mentors in Snohomish County.

“We definitely need men that are willing to be matches to boys,” Johnson said.

The auction will feature several trips including ones to Cabo San Lucas, Kauai and the Oregon Coast. There is also a 1-day pass to the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament in California.

There are also assorted gift certificates to local businesses, hotels and restaurants – or what Johnson calls, a “night out for parents.”

“These are extremely popular items for parents, especially if they have kids and want a night out,” he said.

Other high-ticket auction items include a diamond necklace and specialty catered dinners.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and there will be an after party with a live band performance by DaCoda Dacoda.

Tickets aRe $100 per person, which can be purchased in advance or at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
