Lynnwood Convention Center Gives Back During the Holidays

(LYNNWOOD, WA), Have you ever attended an event, looked around at some of the empty chairs and wondered... "What are they going to do with all the leftover food?"  Well, at the Lynnwood Convention Center we partner with the Lynnwood Food Bank to help feed the hungry or homeless of Lynnwood. As a way to give back to the community, any food left from an event is donated on a daily/weekly basis to help provide meals for needy families. The Lynnwood Convention Center donates nearly 1,100 pounds each year.

"We are able to box the food in meal size containers of potatoes or rice, meat, and vegetables," said Judy Finn, Administrator/Director at the Lynnwood Food Bank. The Lynnwood Food Bank has been providing to the less fortunate in Lynnwood for over 32 years. In 1982, the Lynnwood Food Bank became a member of the Snohomish Coalition of Food Banks, operating under the church's non-profit charitable status. In February 2004, the Lynnwood Food Bank incorporated and granted its own separate 501(c)(3) status for clarification for donors. The Board of Directors is made up of committed, qualified individuals who have spent much time working in the food bank from both the church and from the community.

The Lynnwood Food Bank currently averages 120 volunteers per month. To learn how you can be a part of this organization and learn more about it, visit http://lynnwoodfoodbank.org/lfb/

To lend an extra helping hand to local families during the recent holidays, the Lynnwood Convention Center employees participated in the Eagle Outreach Angel Tree Program. Employees  "adopted" children from the Angel Tree and purchased gifts for them! Throughout the year, on days where the Lynnwood Convention Center is "dark" or doesn't have an event, employees can donate a dollar to the "United Way Denim Dark Day Fund" and they can wear jeans to work!

These are just some of the ways the Lynnwood Convention Center is supporting the local community and giving back whenever possible.
