POSITION:                 Event Houseman
REPORTS TO:              Event Services Manager
FLSA STATUS:            Part Time Non-Exempt

The primary function of this position is to ensure that the cleanliness and appearance of the facility is maintained.  In addition this position will assist in event set up and tear down in accordance with the Lynnwood Convention Center Standards of Service. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day-to-Day cleaning of the facility, including but not limited to restrooms, event spaces, back-of-house areas, concourses, floors, and carpets
  • Removal of trash, composting and recycling
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of parking lot and building exterior
  • Pre Event set up, including but not limited to chairs and tables
  • Support operations and F&B departments with event day tasks including but not limited to station and banquet set up, scullery, post event clean up
  • Operate motorized equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet extractors
  • Assist with basic maintenance, including but not limited to pressure washing, touch up painting, and monitoring the condition of equipment
  • Regular inspection of the facility for damage and overall cleanliness
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret daily task lists, service orders and standard operating procedures.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate with staff and guests. High School diploma or general education degree is required and must have ability to follow detailed instructions for tasks assigned.
  • The ideal candidate must be willing to work extended, often irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by events.
  • A positive attitude and an outgoing personality are a plus. Previous event set up experience is preferred, but not necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time and may have to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
This position requires work in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse weather conditions.

REPORTS TO:              Operations Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and strike chairs, tables, staging, and related equipment
  • Move carts, tables, chairs, boxes, and dance floor
  • Assist Event Managers with event needs, setting up changes as requested
  • Setup audiovisual and catering equipment as directed
  • Operate scissor lift as needed
  • Regular inspection of the facility for damage and overall cleanliness
  • Operate equipment including, vacuums, carpet extractors, pressure washers and related equipment as needed for projects
  • Regular inspection of the facility for damage and overall cleanliness
  • Assist Event Houseman with day to day cleaning of the facility as needed

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Prefer knowledge of basic tools and methods to set-up and strike various items including tables, chairs, and stages.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret plan drawings in conjunction with written guidelines to achieve various setup needs.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. High School diploma or general education degree is required and must have ability to follow detailed instructions for tasks assigned.
  • The ideal candidate must be willing to work extended, often irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by events.
